What is Oral Surgery?
Oral surgeries include the diagnosis and surgical treatment of injuries, defects and diseases of either the hard or soft tissues of the teeth, face, jaws and mouth.
While our dentist uses the least invasive treatment option for a given issue when possible, sometimes less invasive treatment options won't be sufficient and oral surgery will be required to help restore your dental health.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are small titanium screws that function like the root of a natural tooth. Our dentist places dental implants in our patients' smiles in order to replace missing teeth and assist in restoring both eh function and appearance of your teeth.
Dental implants, taken together with a tool replacement like a crown or bridge, may look and feel quite similar to a natural tooth.
Frenectomy
Frenectomies are a procedure that eliminates the frenum, a small piece of tissue, that connects your tongue, cheeks or lips to your gums.
Our dental team can perform frenectomies for babies, children and adults when their frenum is restricting their mouth's function. The condition where a frenum impacts your smile's function is called either tongue-tied, cheek-tied or lip-tied.
Tooth Extractions
While it's always preferable to save a natural tooth, there are some cases where it's not possible. If a tooth is too badly damaged as a result of decay, gum disease or injury, it may need to be removed by your dentist.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars that erupt in the back corners of a normal adult mouth. If the wisdom teeth are causing problems for your oral hygiene, your dentist may recommend removing them to help preserve your oral health.
